History

The Japan-based company made its debut in 1948 by the name of Soichiro Honda. Initially, it started with the manufacturing of motorbikes. It was 1963 that Honda manufactured its first ever vehicle, Honda S500, a sports car. Seven years later, it exported its first vehicle, to the US. That was the Diminutive N600, which proved quite successful. More was still to come, it embraced a huge success with the launch of Civic in 1973. With better fuel economy, which was an important selling point in that decade of the energy crisis. The addition of Accord in 1976 further strengthens Honda’s position in Auto Sector.

Current Portfolio

The current lineup of Honda offers a wide range of vehicles. That includes the latest hybrid technology equipped cars along with spacious minivans, luxury sedans, sports cars, SUVs and a pickup. The latest Accord and Civic are not top notch, though, as they once were. Still, Honda is a class to beat. With a number of satisfied and loyal customers running in millions, it is one of the largest manufacturers of automobiles.

Future Plans

Honda is planning to increase the production of its Hybrid line up to get the status of the world’s largest fuel efficient vehicle manufacturing company, for which it was once a well-reputed firm. Also, it is raising the standard of safety for its upcoming models.
